Wonderful pair of vintage hand-carved Wood Spirit / forest spirit face sculpture wall hangings, carved directly into naturally shaped pieces of wood. Each carving incorporates the original shape, grain, bark and irregularities of the wood into the character’s face, beard and head, giving each piece a completely individual appearance. Both are marked Kelly. Wonderfully expressive elongated faces with deeply carved eyes, noses, mouths and flowing beard details. Approximate longest piece: 11″- 12″. Both are pre-owned vintage folk-art pieces and retain the natural characteristics of the wood, including irregular edges, grain, knots, checking/splits and surface variation. These characteristics are part of the rustic carving and should be carefully reviewed in the photographs. You will receive the exact TWO carvings pictured. This is not a wall mounted mask. This is a solid wood almost in the round except it has an indented back. It’s in excellent condition. This comes from the Ainu people native to the island of Hokkaido in Japan likely date to the 1960s approximately 8″ x 8″ x 6.
