An exceptional 29-inch hand-carved Monkey Pod wood sculpture signed Eugene Leclaine, showcasing masterful craftsmanship and an elegant organic design rarely found in large-scale tropical carvings. Executed from richly figured Monkey Pod hardwood, the sculpture features a stylized female figure carrying a pineapple beneath an oversized flowing hat, framed within an intricate openwork composition that highlights both the natural beauty of the wood and the artist’s technical ability. The dramatic grain, warm golden and chocolate tones, and fluid sculptural lines are characteristic of premium Monkey Pod hardwood, a prized tropical wood known for its durability, striking figure, and suitability for fine artistic carving. The substantial size and complex openwork construction distinguish this piece from typical decorative carvings, placing it among high-quality collector examples. The sculpture is hand-signed “Eugene Leclaine” on the base. I can sit on it and it does not budge one bit. His nose needs a little bit of touching up or repair but otherwise he is in really nice condition. I’m sure he could use a brushing. Comes from a smoke and pet free home. Seems to be all wood. It does not shift around. It’s not loose. The legs are not loose. It is rock solid.

Vintage Attributed Toriart Emperor Penguin Trio Sculpture on Wood Base. Unmarked vintage emperor penguin trio sculpture mounted on a solid wood oval base. The original foil maker’s label is missing. During research, two of the three penguins were found to closely match cataloged. ANRI Toriart emperor penguin models 13572/C and 13574/C. While this suggests a possible Toriart attribution, the original maker cannot be confirmed. Despite extensive research, I was unable to locate another example of the third penguin shown on the right, or this three-penguin grouping. The sculpture is mounted on its original solid wood oval display base with original felt feet. Overall height: approximately 4 5/8. Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/4″. Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The sculpture sits flat with no wobble. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description.
