It stands 21 inches tall the way it sits with the basket. The cloth is ripped. At least I think it’s cloth. I don’t know what material it is. The cloth is fragile. The sculpture is solid wood. I’m not exactly sure what the basket is made out of. The basket is around 13 inches round and around 6 inches tall. The statue is real wobbly. It looks like it came undone from inside the basket where it was mounted. A piece of the toe is broken off and you can see two nails sticking through it. I think that’s where it came apart. Vintage Nantucket Lightship Basket Purse by Stanley Roop c: 1966; Adorned with a Sayle Carving of adhered seagull and the title of “Pinkletink Chilmark” Sailing Boat. Oval size with carved whale, handle and signature clasp. Typical Nantucket classic design. Signed on the bottom. The weaved clasps have wear and tear with the front clasp in need of repair. Some loss in weaving. Some wear and tear to bottom where it has set for many years. Otherwise in good shape – it is a well made basket. It stands approximately 7 1/4 (not including the handles). Measures 7 1/2″ long x 6″ wide. All items are examined and every attempt is made to describe them completely and accurately.
