Up for sale is a beautiful, highly decorative vintage Hand-Carved Wooden Brook Trout Trophy Sculpture. This piece of sporting folk art perfectly captures the striking patterns of the classic native Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis). The Carving: The trout is intricately hand-carved from solid wood and detailed with realistic dimensional fins and gills. The trout measures approximately 7 inches long from head to tail. The Paintwork: Beautifully hand-painted with a vivid green back, characteristic pale spots, and textured details highlighting the lateral lines. The Display Base: The fish is mounted to an exceptional, highly figured natural live-edge burl wood slab plaque. The burl wood displays rich, swirling grain pockets and dramatic organic edges. It IS NOT mounted flush to the burl wood backing. The Pedestal: The entire slab is mounted vertically onto a finished walnut/mahogany finished presentation stand complete with a vintage-style black engraved brass identification plate reading “BROOK TROUT”. Markings & Provenance: The reverse side and underside are completely clean. There is a simple, charming hand-written vintage pencil notation underneath reading “brook trout”, identifying the piece as a true creation of an independent American wildlife folk artist.
