Wonderful pair of vintage hand-carved Wood Spirit / forest spirit face sculpture wall hangings, carved directly into naturally shaped pieces of wood. Each carving incorporates the original shape, grain, bark and irregularities of the wood into the character’s face, beard and head, giving each piece a completely individual appearance. Both are marked Kelly. Wonderfully expressive elongated faces with deeply carved eyes, noses, mouths and flowing beard details. Approximate longest piece: 11″- 12″. Both are pre-owned vintage folk-art pieces and retain the natural characteristics of the wood, including irregular edges, grain, knots, checking/splits and surface variation. These characteristics are part of the rustic carving and should be carefully reviewed in the photographs. You will receive the exact TWO carvings pictured. Excellent pieces for a rustic cabin, lodge, woodland collection, folk-art collection, fantasy décor, tree-spirit collection or unusual wall display.

A stunning lot of 3 wood carvings from the Tatra mountains region of Poland of Polish Gorals. All 3 are in very good vintage condition with no flaws that I see. The larger one measures approximately 13″ tall by 8 1/2″ wide at the widest point. The 2nd one measures approximately 10″ tall by 7″ wide at the widest point. The 3rd one measures approximately 8 1/2″ tall by 6″ wide at the widest point. Only the larger one is initialed S P on the back but all 3 were done by the same talented artist. Brought back Poland in the late 1980s from a collector who visited the Tatra Mountains region.
