The sale is for a large carving of a man with a hammer and chisel sitting maybe on a carved rock and a backdrop with base. The man may be a blue collar type at work and in work clothes taking a rest. The carving is large, unvarnished and may be carved in the natural wood’s color. A metal hanging hook on top of backside for wall mount. Good condition with age related issues. May have nicks in places. An odd carved surface behind hat where hat meets wall. Doesnt appear to be damaged; as found. May have surface wear due to age/use. The backside is more flushed. Sign on right side, E. I cannot find anything on the carver; may not have been a prolific artist. May have paper pulp stuck on the grooves due to ruggedness of the wood. May have chalky white spots in places. See all pics for they are part of description. May have other issues not mentioned but mentioned most significant. Measures 9.5″ X 17 3/8″ X 2 7/8.

This listing includes the following vintage tools and vintage wood carving, sanding, and shaving tools. 8 (3/4) sweep straight wood carving gouge – made in Skillman, NJ. 8 (1) spoon bent gouge with wooden handle. Vintage Erik Anton Berg 19mm (¾) wood carving lathe tool made in Sweden. Stanley (¾) flat wood chisel with plastic yellow handle. Vintage flat head screwdriver and phillips head screwdriver, both with wooden handles. Vintage metal masonry tool/flat spackle knife/scraper. 2 vintage Stanley Surform metal plane – planer sander tool (one blade has dried wood glue on it but it can be replaced with the extra blade included in this listing) 5.5″ L x 1-3/8″ W. Stanley Surform replacement blade (still in the original vintage packaging). Stanley Surform Shaver with red plastic handle lightweight and great for shaving in corners – blade dimensions: 2-3/8″ L x 1-5/8″ W. We appreciate your business! 9-piece lot of vintage Dastra wood carving chisels from Germany. High-quality German steel and craftsmanship here! Tough to say whether or not these chisels have been used or not; however, it is clear that if they were used, then it was only lightly and that they have been well cared for by past owners! Three gouges – #8 10m, #8 10m/m, and #20 14m/m. #20 handle and brass collar are cracked, but the tang is secure in the handle. Three scoops – #28 18m/m scoop/gouge (file handle replacement, not original), #21 8m/m, and #21 3m/m. One single skew – #2 10m/m. Two straight edge – #1 3m/m (file handle replacement, not original) and #1 6m/m (no handle). Some of the brass collars have slight cracks, but all chisels are secure in their handles. Such a high starting price… Yeah, yeah, I know, but let’s cut the BS… Would be an absolute steal!!!
