Vintage Jointed Wooden Doll Figure by Chicago Artist Don Ellefson. Piece is the size of a small child, constructed from wood with bolts to attach the movable arms and legs. Makes for a great display piece to show off hats and necklaces, or charming Rustic Cabin Décor. Excellent vintage condition, with subtle signs of age and wear, all adding to the rich naturally aged patina. There is a natural split on the grain in the wood on the back of the right arm (see photo 6). Does not compromise function of appearance. This offering is for an antique circa 1930’s folk art Uncle Sam Jointed Dancing Jigger Figure. The figure was hand carved from solid wood and he measures app. He is signed by the maker on the stick “Edward Schlosser” and also initialed “ES” on the figures back. Sam is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees and he retains his original red, white and blue paint in excellent near 100% intact condition. The surface is wonderful with overall tiny crazing and a beautiful mellow patina. I see one spot on the right leg hip joint where it looks like a repair was done in the making as it is visible on the front but not on the back. Otherwise the only flaw I see is some minor loss to the paper stars on his hat, there is very minor wear to the surface but no cracks, breaks, or other repairs. Pair of vintage carved wooden elephant toys with jointed legs and trunks made of solid oak. Designed in 1953 by Kay Bojesen of Denmark. Marks are early hand stamped signatures indicating these are early run editions. Heads, legs and trunks are fully articulated and can be positioned in many ways.
