Vintage wood carved decoy shore birds (pair) mounted on a unique piece of driftwood with stones embedded in the wood. The hand carved and painted shorebirds are in very good condition with glass eyes and original paint. There is no signature on the piece. It’s a shame because it is a very nice piece. This vintage Asian Thai Burmese wood carved sculpture is a large statue standing at 31 inches tall featuring remnants of polychrome paint. A large vintage Japanese sculpture / statue / okimono in blackened and carved wood, depicting 1 male lion, 2 cubs and a lioness. The statue is handcrafted from a dense wood, possibly ironwood. With the original glass eyes and inset bone teeth. There is an artist mark on the base. 6 ½ in (16.5 cm) wide x 5 ½ in (14.0 cm) deep x 12 ½ in (31.8 cm) tall. Weighs 4 lbs 15.8 oz. Other than a short split in the base, the statue is in excellent condition with very little wear and no damages to the eyes or teeth. A striking and substantial Japanese okimono, rich in craftsmanship, presence, and sculptural detail-an impressive statement piece for Asian or wildlife art collector.
