Up for sale is a very nice quality vintage hand carved wooden mallard Folk Art duck sculpture. It’s completely carved by and with exquisite detailing and features real duck feet that have been painted over. The bird is in a lovely standing position with two toned glass eyes and a stunning hand painted finish. He stands on a natural wooden base and in good condition measuring 13 3/4 inches tall by 13 inches long by 11 inches wide. George is a very well known decoy carver, and hunter, in the tri-state area and all over the country. It has been kept safely put away since being recieved by Mr. Width 2.25 (inches). This piece features a wood carved female mallard duck perches upon a round log pedistal. Her feathers have been beautifully painted giving her a life like look. The bottom of this pice is signed’Jim Boice 1975′. Jim Boice is an east coast wood working artist known for his bird sculptures. Mallard ducks are the most common and recognizable wild ducks in the Northern Hemisphere. You’ll find them near ponds, marshes, streams, and lakes, where they feed on plants, invertebrates, fish, and insects. Mallards are dabbling, or surface-feeding, ducks because they eat by tipping underwater for food-head down, feet and tail in the air-rather than diving. Mallards also forage and graze for food on land. The male mallard duck, called a drake, sports a glossy green head, a white ring around its neck and a rich, chestnut-brown breast.
