Offered here is a beautiful and unique carved wood display of a paired set of mourning doves perched on a crab apple tree branch. This remarkable display was crafted by famed bird carving artist Casey Edwards. The technical skill is incredible in this artwork. Two mated birds are perched on a wooden base. It makes for a stunning display. The doves have carved and painted feather detail throughout with turned heads and their blended soft colors, with light iridescent coloring highlighting their feathers, while one is in the upright position, and the other is carooning downward amongst synthetic crab apples and leaves for added eye appeal and realism. BOTH WITH LIKELY LATE 1980s TO EARLY 1990s IMPRESSED “WEK”STAMPS AT UNDERSIDES. PEN MARKED “96” AND “#35″ AT UNDERSIDES OF LOG SLICES. BOTH ARE IN VG+ VINTAGE CONDITION WITH ONLY VERY LIGHT GENERAL SIGNS OF AGE AND WEAR, A FEW FAINT PIGMENT LOSSES. MOURNING DOVE MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 8.25 INCHES TALL WHEN DISPLAYED UPRIGHT, AND 9.50 INCHES LONG. SHORE BIRD MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES TALL, AND 6 INCHES LONG. Kirkpatrick WEK (Hudson, Massachusetts) hand carved and painted wooden Mourning Dove sculpture, figure, statue, model, decoy. Cut log slice & wood dowel pedestal stand. Impressed “WEK” stamp, likely dates to late 1980s early 1990s. Pen marked “34” at underside. In VG+ vintage condition with only very light general signs of age and wear, a few faint pigment losses. Measures approximately 5.25 inches tall, and 9.50 inches long. Weighs approximately 1/2 lb. Will weigh between 1 and 2 lbs packaged. More pics upon request.
