Vintage Carved Nativity Scene Solid One Piece Wood Sculpture Relief. Approximately 12.5″ x 11″ x 1.25. Weight is 2 lbs 14 oz. Hand carved in light wood nativity scene: Baby Jesus, Mary, St. Joseph, Three Wise Men, animals, Folk art made in Zakopane, Poland. There is sticker on the back “Rzezbiarstwo W Drewnie, 7 Demura Piszczek”. Initials PDJ carved on the back. There is one 1 long crack by the Cain. The Crèche is designed to display the classic Nativity collection. While simple in architectural detail, the Crèche has meaning built into its very design. The piece has a regal, stately appearance, yet is constructed from humble materials of barn wood and nails. The structures proportions also suggest the size and shape of the cross, while its rusty nails foretell the crucifixion. The Crèche intimately shelters the Holy Family, then opens wide to welcome shepherds and travelers from afar. 17h x 20w x 11.5d. Constructed of wood and painted by hand. Three-piece assembly; folds flat for storage. Antiqued blue-gray wood backdrop and base. Center vertical portion has cross beams and rusted nail marks. Larger and smaller base fit together for tiered display. Size and scale complements the Nativity collection. Packaging box includes enclosure card for gift-giving. Dust with soft cloth or soft brush.
