I just love this piece, it is like a Piet Mondrian with the bright colors and the form is similar to the style of Louise Nevelson. The piece is assempbled from pieces of wood that have been brightly painted, probably late 20th century. Height 4 1/2 Inches 11.3 cm. Width 12 1/4 Inches 31.3 cm. Depth 12 1/4 Inches 31.3 cm. An amazing recent find in Palm Springs! He has also designed and built high-end, one-off custom furniture pieces. While living in New York City, New York, he was inspired by the work of acclaimed sculptor Louise Nevelson. Always seeking unusual materials and unique techniques in building, these are an example of a work built of accumulated “parts” combined with a modicum of balance and whimsy. The sculpture measures 22 inches square, is signed a verso, and was created in Seville Spain in 1994. Regrettably (as the last photograph in this listing, posted from the Stewart Galleries website, indicates) one of the elements of the original sculpture is missing, but the masterpiece could be easily restored to its original design or, if desired, the area where the missing component was detached could be colored to match the rest of the surface.
