Wonderful pair of vintage hand-carved Wood Spirit / forest spirit face sculpture wall hangings, carved directly into naturally shaped pieces of wood. Each carving incorporates the original shape, grain, bark and irregularities of the wood into the character’s face, beard and head, giving each piece a completely individual appearance. Both are marked Kelly. Wonderfully expressive elongated faces with deeply carved eyes, noses, mouths and flowing beard details. Approximate longest piece: 11″- 12″. Both are pre-owned vintage folk-art pieces and retain the natural characteristics of the wood, including irregular edges, grain, knots, checking/splits and surface variation. These characteristics are part of the rustic carving and should be carefully reviewed in the photographs. You will receive the exact TWO carvings pictured. Hand-carved folk art sculpture of a pair of oxen harnessed together in a neck yoke. Sutton and dated 1973 to the underside. One of the horns looks to have been repaired after breaking off. The lighter colored ox is missing some hair at the end of it’s tail. Beyond that, the condition is good. Dimensions: 15″ length x 8″ height x 10.5 width. Since this is a fragile item, I ask that you use the original box and original packing materials to ensure safe return.
