Up for your consideration is a stunning 1700’s carving from the 1700’s. This was picked up by my Grandfather somewhere in his many travels. He was a British Military Officer during World War II and later a Diplomat. This piece has been displayed in my home for many years. It is perhaps one of my favorite pieces. But a last it is time to find it a new home. It’s most likely from Italy and probably dates to the mid to late 1700’s. A stunning piece that displays beautifully. This antique Santos statue is a beautiful piece of religious art from the 1700s. Handmade in Italy, this wooden statue features intricate carvings and paintings in a Baroque/Rococo style. Measuring 10 inches in height and 3 inches in width, it is a medium-sized statue that will add a touch of elegance to any collection. The statue is in a good state of preservation and has an antique finish that adds to its charm. It is an original piece and not a reproduction. This mesmerizing wood carving is around 50 years old and measures 17″ tall x 8 3/4″ x 9 overall. The artist has created a most dynamic composition and the figure features elegantly rendered details and beautiful hand painting liberally accented in gold and silver leaf. You will note wear to the finish with some scattered nicks and one glued finger. Overall he is truly stunning and a masterpiece of the woodworker’s art.

This delighfully bold and stylized depiction of folk hero Paul Bunyan and his companion Babe the blue ox is carved from a single chunk of pine with original paint and measures 6 3/4″ x 7 1/2″ x 3 3/4 overall. As the images show, the figure is very originally conceived, standing with one leg atop a log, Babe at his back and a single tiny normal size? Creature perced on his shoulder as his silver-headed axe dangles between his legs. Intriguing viewed from all angles the work is is in good condition with no cracks or significant loss.
