Fantastic Vintage Folk Art Carving, Male Child Portrait Sculpture. Wooden Statue carved by Lou Rappaport, dated 1980. Incredible details and carving techniques, with tactile surface treatment. Large and in charge at 20 tall. A short Bio is included on Rappaport, who turned to Carving after his retirement from the Financial Field. I love the Mid-Century Danish feel of this piece. Incredible and huge 75.5 inches length hand carved & hand painted. Balinese ceremonial procession panel sculpture! I can’t express this enough how beautiful this looks hanging! Hang it over mantle, credenza, headboard, foyer, hallway, indoor/outdoor patio etc. No signature to be found. All hand carved wood and hand painted. Measures: 75.5″ x 13.5″H x 1.25D. Dates: exact age is unknown-panel is not dated. Possibly 1950’s-1960’s or older-not certain. Some paint loss, paint chips, paint drips, paint stains on back of panel along with drips, dings, surface cracks along bottom base, some light surface cracks on front, tiny chips, surface dust/debris, scuffs, scratches, white spots, dings, abrasions to wood, surface staining from age/use, spots, water spots on base in one center area along base. Other mild wear from age and use. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how nice it looks in person. Touch up paint and or mild restoration will be a preference only. I haven’t felt the need to do anything to it. I love the look just as it is.
