This offering is for a late 19th century hand seated figure of a young dog, likely made in the Black Forest region of Germany. The figure is made of a light colored wood, possibly pine or Linden wood, with an outstanding deep brown natural surface patina. The overall height is app. 12.5 and the base measures app. 7 across at the widest point. The carving is quite realistic with an excellent rendering of the pups fur. He presents with an intense playful feeling that just makes you smile. The surface is excellent with very very minor high point wear and a beautiful mellow surface patina that has never been touched. Antique or vintage rare handmade esoteric divination statue with question and answer pendulum. Measures: Height 14 1/2 in x Width 8 3/4 in x Depth 9 in. The central pillar is a weathered, curved piece of natural wood or bone textured to mimic a joint, mounted onto a tiered wooden base. Iron nails or pins are driven into the frame, serving as anchors for a complex geometric network of black thread. This resembles a 3D web or a sacred geometry grid. Small, brass-colored cowbells or ritual bells hang from the outer edges of the thread matrix. In spiritual traditions, bells are often used to clear energy, mark the beginning of a ritual, or ward off spirits. A turned wooden pendulum bob attached to a beaded chain hangs directly below the heavy curve of the wood. While this piece serves primarily as a fixed sculpture, the tool hanging from it-the pendulum-is a well-known instrument used in dowsing and divination. A pair of floral wood carved free standing art sculptures/ mid century modern decor. Flaws ; stress fractures at base where connected to the metal stand, not so noticeable until you lay them down for photos. Sturdy & sit flat. I think maybe made of walnut. There’s a tag on the bottom but I’m guessing the age is maybe late 1980s I can’t be sure. Ne is 20″ tall & the other is 24″.

Vintage Makonde “Ujamaa” Tree of Life wood carving, likely made of ebony. Origin: Created by the Makonde people from Tanzania or northern Mozambique. Symbolism: Known as a “Tree of Life” or “Ujamaa” sculpture, it depicts the extended African family, with figures supporting each other to represent community. Hand-carved from a single block of dense, dark ebony wood. This measures: 12.5 inches tall x 4.5 inches wide x 4 inches deep and weighs 2 pounds 13 oz. This is a high-quality unique piece that includes a couple of containers that people are carrying. On the very top are carved some designs that you often see on carved African tables often from Nigeria. I t’s in very good original condition. There is one area on the inside towards the top that shows slight damage, but that damage looks to be part of the original wood. Please view photos for more details.
