Vintage John Perry Shark Sculpture on Burled Wood Base. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Nice rendering of two circling sharks here. The sharks seem to be made of some sort of composite material. Some discoloration to the sharks’ bodies from time. A small tip of one of the tails of a shark is missing. Then we have this beautiful burled wood base. Just incredible looking background for the two sharks. Not sure what type of wood we are dealing with here, just has a great look to it. Metal artist plate on the front of the wood base. Also, a gold colored label on the bottom of the base. Notes the John Perry studio of Newbury Park, CA. The John Perry Shark Sculpture stands 10.5″ tall, by 9″ across, by 9.25 wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. In 1973 John Perry founded the Studio with the concept of applying the very latest materials and molding techniques to the reproduction of his sculpture in order to make it as broadly accessible as possible. Of resins that can be presented in a variety of forms, the frosted white version resembling bisque porcelain, the beige version, Balanite, looks like polished ivory, and the black version, Ebonite, like polished ebony. Some of the pieces are air-brushed for a realistic look. The response during the past 30 years has been such that John Perry’s work has passed into the possession of literally millions of people.
