An exceptional 29-inch hand-carved Monkey Pod wood sculpture signed Eugene Leclaine, showcasing masterful craftsmanship and an elegant organic design rarely found in large-scale tropical carvings. Executed from richly figured Monkey Pod hardwood, the sculpture features a stylized female figure carrying a pineapple beneath an oversized flowing hat, framed within an intricate openwork composition that highlights both the natural beauty of the wood and the artist’s technical ability. The dramatic grain, warm golden and chocolate tones, and fluid sculptural lines are characteristic of premium Monkey Pod hardwood, a prized tropical wood known for its durability, striking figure, and suitability for fine artistic carving. The sculpture is hand-signed “Eugene Leclaine” on the base.
