Handcrafted carved ironwood slithering viper. This piece is large at 10 long and weighs over three lbs. I don’t know the exact age of this piece. There are no markings on the bottom. Condition: Great condition considering age. Has a repair on the neck. Not noticeable unless viewed closely. There is a light spot on one side that likely occurred while being carved. Overall, smooth without any rough spots. Still a stunning piece. 10″ long by roughly 8″ wide with the head slightly standing at 4.

For your consideration we have a very unique piece of Vintage Intarsia Wood Art. This piece features a Mythological / Folklore style, and has a crying sun above a large angry snake. Made up of many smaller pieces of carved wood, this stunning work of art would be a great addition to any home! A little about Intarsia Wood. Intarsia uses varied shapes, sizes, and species of wood fitted together to create a mosaic-like picture with an illusion of depth. Intarsia is created through the selection of different types of wood, using their grain pattern and coloring to create variations in the pattern. After selecting the specific woods for the pattern, the woodworker cuts, shapes, and finishes each piece. Some areas of the pattern may be raised to create more depth. The completed individual pieces fit together like a jig-saw puzzle, glued to a wooden backer-board cut to the outline of the pattern. In great vintage condition, there are a few minor signs of wear. Please see all photos for condition as well. Signed on the bottom left, I cannot make out the signature. Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any questions!
