Vintage 70’s Native American Burl Wood and Turquoise Sculpture. This unique natural Navajo art is titled “First Birth” and signed by C. It is in excellent condition. Height 6 1/2″ x 5 3/4″ wide at the base. Hill is known more as a silversmith. 1970’s Chinese Turquoise Carved Boy & Attendant on Wood Stand – AS IS. It is 1.6 inches (4.2 cm) tall by 2.1 inches (5.4 cm) wide. The turquoise figures is about 1.15 inches (3 cm) tall by 1.6 inches (4.1 cm) wide. The total weight is 40.3 gram. It has hairline cracks at the desk and ribbons, repaired at the foot, inclusions, flea bite chips, glued to the stand, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos). A pair of 19th century, sculptural horse heads. A distressed turquoise on traces of dark blue colour palette. At 27 cms high. Sourced from Rajasthan, this highly decorative horse head started life as the end of a heavy internal beam or in a doorway in a haveli, or merchant’s mansion, circa 1850. These hand carved wooden sculptures are not only becoming inceasingly difficult to source but, unsually, have been painted in vibrant colours. In their previous incarnation, horse heads were also fixed to exterior door posts to ward off spirits and offer protection and strength for the occupants withi. In image 4, we personally witnessed a pair of horse heads playing just such a role in Sonagiri , a complex of impeccably maintained Jain temples. In India’s Bundelkhand region. It is 2.4 inches (6.2 cm) tall by 1.8 inches (4.8 cm) wide measured with stand and 2 inches (5.1 cm) tall by 1.75 inches (4.6 cm) wide measured without stand. The total weight is 83.2 gram. The turquoise boy is 76.8 gram. The boy has traces of glue at the bottom, inclusions, flea bite chips, and surface wears and scratches.
