Vintage, hand-carved, wood, original, RAM. Carved in an abstracted, moderne style. First up in my observations, super lovely attention to the horns. As I study the shape and carving of them, I cannot help but think of the Nautilus design of certain marine shells. The RAM’s tail is the other design element that required heavy line carving. Please turn your attention to the abstraction of the RAM’s face. Love, love, love the how the artist carves a nuanced abstracted face. The RAM’s shaggy fur on body is suggested by the use of stipple carving. It is so cool to look at and to hold it in your hand(s) it has great weight and strength. I felt the piece was probably carved in the 1960s. A lot of fascination with Zodiac signs – particularly the RAM for some reason. Measurements: 6 inches high by 5.5 inches long by 2.75 inches across/wide. Some scratches, little marks in places. The stain has crept off around the bottom near the RAM’s feet. One side is darker than the other – may have been on a windowsill. Thank you for shopping! This item is in the category “Art\Art Sculptures”.
