Here’s a wonderful Norman Brumm from a well-loved (and well cared for) private collection. This gorgeous vintage enamel on copper sculpture features a delightful bird, beautiful violets, and a precious little butterfly! The Brown Song Sparrow is enameled in warm brown tones of coffee and copper with contrasting white head feathers. This little bird is perched over a spray of violets with lush green leaves and a visiting tiny butterfly. As in all of Brumm’s sculptures, the overall effect captures a unique moment in a harmonious vignette. Brumm’s technique of multiple high-firings caused the glass enamel to take on a deep, gem-like quality. Each of the “Brumm Birds” is one of a kind, and was created with superb attention to detail. The little bird, vibrant leaves, delicate blossoms, and charming butterfly are all realized in Brumm’s instantly recognizable enamel over sculpted copper style. The entire piece is supported by a hand carved burl wood (lead weighted) stand. The craftsmanship is simply extraordinary. This sculpture is in excellent vintage condition! The enamel glows, the colors are rich and vibrant, and the wood base is smooth and polished. The piece is well marked at the bottom of the stand (as well as the underside of the little bird).
