Sculptured horse head, fabulous patina aged and cracked due to exposure to harsh sunlight, remnants of original paint visible, hand carved in teak. Sourced from Jaipur in Rajasthan, these highly decorative Mewar horse heads started life as a matching pair either side of a doorway in a haveli, or merchant’s mansion, circa 1850. Traditionally horse heads were fixed to exterior door posts to ward off evil spirits and offer protection. It has been left in an.
