PAIR ANTIQUE CHINESE CARVED WOOD POLYCHROME PAINTED STANDING OFFICIALS FIGURES. A wonderful pair of Chinese Qing dynasty carved and painted wooden standing officials, dating to the 19th Century. Each figure is carved in fine detail, with a polychrome painted surface. They are similarly robed and wear similar headgear, and stand on a pedestal base. Details to the front of the robes and across the shoulders have been picked out in raised gesso, painted gold. The faces are equally well carved and painted, one with a long finely painted dark beard, the other blonde. Height: 34.3 cm or 13 1/2 inches. Combined unpackaged weight: 1860 g. In good antique condition, with expected age related wear to the surface. Both have a split through the hands at the front, one more so than the other. Also a split to the base of one. Historic worming to both which only affects the bases. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
