This sculpture features a delightful hummingbird hovering over both a tiny ripe red strawberry AND a white strawberry. Many colorful leaves add interest and the polished burl wood base adds texture. This is a gorgeous vintage enamel on copper sculpture entitled, “Ruby Throated Hummingbird with Wild Strawberry” by Norman Brumm. Brumm’s technique of multiple high-firings caused the glass enamel to take on a deep, gem-like quality. Each of the “Brumm Birds” is one of a kind, and created with superb craftsmanship. The little bird, vibrant leaves, delicate blossom, and charming berries are all realized in Brumm’s instantly recognizable enamel over sculpted copper. The entire piece is supported by a hand carved burled wood (lead weighted) stand. The craftsmanship is simply extraordinary. This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The enamel glows, and the wood base is smooth and polished. The piece is well marked at the bottom of the stand, as well as the underside of the little hummingbird.
