Vintage 1970’s Life-size Folk Art Papier-Mache Driftwood Tortoise Sculpture. Large vintage 1970’s life-size folk art sculpture of a tortoise. The artist of this piece was inspired by the work of artist Sergio Bustamante. Head is a uniquely shaped piece of driftwood closely resembling a tortoise with painted eye and a leather tongue reinforced with a tin armature underneath. Legs and tail are also driftwood while the body is papier-mache. Signed next to tail with initial “RHS”. Measures 32.5in head to tail x 14.5in height x 17in width. Condition: A few minor chips to the paint at edges. Otherwise excellent vintage condition.
