Large and unusual vintage Alva Studios reproduction of an ancient Sumerian or Mesopotamian sculpture from 2500 BC depicting a standing Woman with her hands clasped in prayer. The real statue was discovered in Iraq and originally displayed at the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY in the 1950’s before they changed their collection to modern art. This reproduction statue is made of a heavy casting stone material with very good detail in the woman’s textured robe, braided hair, and deep inset eyes. It stands almost 16″ tall on a 5.5″ by 3 black wood base, and weighs 5.5 lbs. The underside of the base has the original gold label reading AUTHENTIC COPYRIGHTED REPRODUCTION MADE FROM THE ORIGINAL AT THE ALBRIGHT ART GALLERY – BY ALVA STUDIOS, INC. A terrific reproduction of the earliest art from ancient Iraq.
