GREAT Previously Owned Vintage Condition: No Chips. The Mushrooms have wood splits which is consistent with other of his sculptures. The Wood has been conditioned with a high grade bamboo mineral oil to prevent drying. PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES. This wonderful woodland piece is an excellent example of some the delicate carvings Roger Sloan is known for. I did condition the wood with a high grade bamboo mineral oil. Roger Sloan’s pieces have been featured in Fine Woodworking magazine and have gained recognition worldwide. Roger Phillip Sloan was born in Evanston Illinois in 1920 and passed away in his home (Kennesaw Georgia) in 2009 a widely exhibited artist… Sloan was best known for his beautifully crafted wood items… Then later in life enjoyed painting examples of his wood art are shown in Fine Wood Working Design books and other publications of this type ; Fine Woodworking Biennial Design circa 1977 states Sloan and his wife of 62 years (Char)… Were also residents of Marcellus Michigan for a period.
