Extremely finely-carved examples of Indonesian hardwood busts from Bali. These come from a Los Angeles estate of a couple who traveled the world extensively in the 60s & 70s. They had about a dozen of these carved busts and this was the finest pair of the collection. The skill of the carving really shows up in the hair, headdress ornaments, earrings, & sword hilt. I’ve left the original dust in the recesses just as I found them so that you can see the patina and age. Each is simply caved “BALI” on the undersides. The hilt of the man’s sword is pegged and fits into a hole in the sheath. It is not glued and can be stored separately when not displayed. Each measures 14 tall and weighs about 7 lbs. I see no other signatures. It is not glued and can be stored separately when not being displayed. Each figure measures 14 tall and weighs about 7 lbs.
