This listing is for a large handmade wooden fanned turkey. It measures approximately 19-3/8″ tall by 17-3/4″ wide from wing to wing. The turkey is free standing and flat on one side so that it can be placed against a wall or other flat surface. It is stamped on the bottom with the Beaver Creek, Beaman, Iowa logo. Beaver Creek (previously Wolf Creek) Woodworking was a family owned toy factory that manufactured wooden toys and other primitive wooden art objects from the late 1970s through the mid to late 1980s. The factory was located in Beaman, Iowa. The Wolf Creek toy shop was noted for employing mostly retired area natives known as the “Elderly Elves”. These Grandpas and Grandmas hand built a variety of solid wood toys using no nails, metal or plastic. The craftsman carefully constructed each wood toy with pegs and a special glue to make them as safe and durable as possible. A washable, non-toxic, child safe finish was used on each toy to protect it for years of safe playtime pleasure. This family owned business was closed in 1988. Please view the pictures.
