



VINTAGE HAITIAN SLAVE ART LE MARRON INCONNU – SOLID HAND CARVED WOOD SCULPTURE. AKA “THE UNKNOWN MAROON”. Rich hand carved solid wood sculpture of a man wearing a slavery ankle chain, tattered pants, blowing a conch shell and holding a machete. Facsimile/Reproduction of the bronze statue of a runaway slave (better known as a maroon) located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Completed on September 22, 1967 by Haitian architect Albert Mangones. The statue is regarded as a symbol of black liberation commemorating the Haitian revolution and the abolishment of slavery.
