The piece would make a great gift or keep for yourself! This Vintage Mermaid Figure came from the extensive collection from a NJ estate. We have a number of that collector’s marine/nautical items that will be listed soon for sale separately in our store wood and resin figureheads, double glass electric lanterns, brass spotlights, Dumas Chris Craft remote control model w/ engine (similar to a 1241), a newer Celestron telescope, custom compass rose table and wall plaque and other lanterns. The listing numbers will be noted below once they are published. Beautiful wood and maybe ebonized carved figure here. Mounted on a sturdy metal frame to allow it to be safely mounted on a wall. The mermaid figure is pieced together in places, like at the arms and at the tail. Was made that way. Very interesting piece here. Have not found a maker’s mark on it yet, nor do we know the country of origination. This is a hand carved piece cast piece. Beautiful gold gilt paint was applied to the whole mermaid. The wood piece in front of the mermaid is painted a glossy black. The metal frame had been given the look of being hand wrought and is painted with a black enamel paint. No provenance or paperwork came with this piece. Nice detailing on the face and features of the subject here. Eyes really catch yours. Mermaids are to be entrancing creatures and this one does not disappoint. No visible breaks, repairs, or missing pieces on the sculpture itself. Some minor wear to the finish and paint as would be expected with an item of this age and material. Some shrinkage cracks to the wood as can be seen in the pics. In very good shape compared to other pieces we have come across over the years. We will also offer to deliver the Sculpture within 300 miles of Georgetown, DE one way. Same additional charges would apply to a pick-up. The Mermaid Sculpture is 42.5″ tall, by 19.5″ across, by 31 wide at the base. The mermaid from top of head to the bottom of the tail is 31/5 tall. This carved wood figure is very large and very heavy, would guess that it weight about 65-70 pounds. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
