Vtg Modernist MILTON CAVAGNARO Brass & TEAK Wood REMINDER BIRD Note Sculpture. This gorgeous sculpture is the rarest version of the reminder bird. A few have been seen in dark color wood, but this light color teak wood is most preferable. The lighter wood allows the detail in the eye and the mouth to show through where with the dark version these get lost. The face of the bird really is whimsical and playful, and it looks even more adorable holding a note in its mouth. The head is adjustable side to side as well. The overall dimensions are roughly 10″ tall 13″ long and 2.5 wide. The base measures 4 & 3/8″ by 2.5″ by just over 1″ tall and is a good steady foundation for the bird head which measures 4 & 3/8″ long 7/8 high and. The wire appears to be brass and has great patina though could be carefully polished. The shape of the wire allows the head to bobble a bit when pushed, and it might be readjusted at times. Signed on the bottom with Cavagnaro stamp and also engraved reminder bird. Finest example of this sculpture we’ve seen.
