A really gorgeous and unusual theme: mermaid maternity. A mermaid mom and her baby commune. A lovely wood carving somewhat in the folk art style. It measures 14 inches in length and approximately 8 inches in height. The provenance is a mystery to me. There are slight signs of wear (see photos as they are part of the description) but they are mercifully mostly out of sight and the sculpture displays beautifully from front and back. I have never seen this theme treated in art before and it’s a real stunner. Lovely play of fantasy and sensuous use of line.
