This is a very unique and rare piece of Guatemala folk art. Hand carved wooden sculpture of Jesus Christ on the crucifix. It was like that when I got it from an estate sale. It is also tilting but still sturdy, so maybe it was intended that way.
The use of Kaolin, a white clay, lends a distinctive hue to this sculpture, creating a visually striking and unique aesthetic. As a Fetish tribal sculpture, it embodies the spiritual beliefs and cultural practices of the Baule people, reflecting their connection to the divine and the mystical.
