Vintage 1960s sculpture by Australian architect and artist Marr Grounds titled Womb with a Window. Piece is made from driftwood and welded steel mounted on a wooden base. Marr Grounds graduated from the University of California, Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design in 1965 with a Masters of Art in Sculpture completed in 1966. Grounds left for Ghana in 1966 to lecture in Architecture at he University of Kumasi. He subsequently moved in 1968 to teach at the University of Sydney. Hallmarks: Base reads Marr Grounds 196? Dimensions: Height 31 1/4 x Width 20 1/2 x Depth 15. Weight: 16.4 lbs. Condition: Very good vintage condition. Natural cracks in the driftwood. Oxidation to painted metal bar running through center of sculpture. Wear to wooden base with minor chipping and denting to two corners. Light soiling to crevices.
