Vintage 1985 shorebird carving on driftwood carved by the late Maurice Pease of Duck NC. Maurice and Bea Berle and Levin Pops Scarborough all were notable decoy carvers having shops in the village of Duck NC. Maurice was a prolific participant in decoy shows as far north as Have de Grace MD. This is one of his beautiful carvings from June 1985 as noted by his signature on the bottom of this piece. This is a very large and beautiful statement piece measuring 23 long 12 1/4 tall and 9 1/2 wide. The shorebird measures 23long, 3 1/2 wide and 5-6 tall. The original paint is beautiful and does show some indication where the head/neck meet the body. The piece is very solid and has no damage. The signature and markings on the bottom are very clear.
