This wood carving was given to my Great-grandmother many years ago when she was at her summer home at Lake Junaluska, NC. I don’t know how they became friends but she had a reputation of having diverse and interesting people visit. As a very young child I remember an Indian man that visited and I thought he was a Chief! This is a very beautiful piece of art. The dimensions are 6 1/2 in. By 4 5/8 in. It is in great condition, it is made of hard wood, walnut and cherry I believe. He signature on the bottom is authentic and is. He was commonly called Bill Crowe and is the sister of Amanda Crowe. These folks were some of the most famous wood carvers in the Cherokee, NC area and you can find all this info on the net. Please research and read about this extraordinarily talent man and his family. This link will help. I have been told that Bill Crowe Jr. Is the only surviving member.
