Vintage wood carving figure roller skates on pedestal
The carving features a man or boy with roller skates bent forward wearing long shirt and pants. He is on a square ish base then another larger squared off base. The first base has a carved texture that goes onto the top half on the sides then a lightly carved stylized stone finishes the rest. The larger base has a frontal area of deeper carved stone. The carving is large and is in good condition. Appears to be a light colored wood. The squared base stain seems to be a bit darker in color. I dont know what the finish color is or the man himself. The carving is not damaged as far as cracks or reglued parts. He is dirty and dusty in crevices as I left him in untouched condition. It is initialed on one of the sides then the year 97. Areas around it seem worn color wise. Scratches on bottom of base on right side near back corner, etc… The felt pad on bottom is dirty and has some black stains. There is a dark staining on bottom at backside; maybe deliberate and on left side towrd back. The backside has gouge area patterns; maybe how it was made. The backside square bottom has some stain worn areas; maybe deliberate. The base at bottom may be a separate carved piece. The figure skates on base, I don’t know if it is attached to carved square or separate; I cannot tell; see pics. It seems to possibly be one piece. Measures 16″ X 5.75″ X 6.5. Boy alone is 11.25″ X 5″.
