Listed Artist: Martin Melchor Angeles. San Martin Tilcajete, Mexico. All hand carved and hand painted. Signed on belly of the animal sculpture. Medium: wood and paint. 26″H (highest point) x 21″L x 16W. Dates: 20th century-exact age is unknown as sculpture is not dated. Tail is removable as many parts on these carved wood folk art sculpture are. You could glue it into place but best left as artist created. This makes it easier to move around later. Condition: Back end of sculpture has both a hair line crack on front surface to crack going beneath-see images. That area is still sturdy but some light repair will be needed to preserve any further damage from happening. Several areas of tiny paint chips, spots, stains, paint loss, paint chips, surface scuffs, scratches, chips, dings and wear from being handle/use. By far one of the most eye catching wood carvings I have. It’s large and in charge!
