Very unique folk art wood carving of old Swedish couple. Man carries a valise which is signed on bottom by carver, Axel M. Peterson, of Geneva, Il. In his other hand he’s holding some kind of club or stick……. Maybe a walking stick, but apparently the bottom half was broken off at some point. The old lady has lost her nose, which gives her an interesting look. Both figures are about 7 tall, and display the bright colors of old world traditional Swedish dress. Both man and women show wear, and slight breakage (as mentioned, and pictured), but they are a wonderful example of vintage folk art wood carving.
