This is an original wood carving signed by Manuel Jimenez and his sons Angelico and Isaias. Manuel Jimenez is often called the father of the modern Oaxacan tradition of making wood carvings painted in bright alebrije styles. His sons Angelico and Isaias continue the tradition. This coyote has no removable pieces, and is about 12.25″ wide, 11″ high, and 4.25 deep. It weighs just over a pound without packing materials. This piece has been repaired – a back leg and the tail have been broken and glued back together. There’s also a visible crack between a back leg and the body, but it doesn’t extend to the top or rear.
