This is a nice hand carved wooden religious statue wall hanging plaque of the Madonna and Christ child (see photos). The sculpture is made of carved wood. The carving is well done with nice attention to detail and it is the work of a talented artist. The carving is not signed by the artist, but it looks to be European in origin possibly Italian (see photos and decide the maker, the origin and the age). The carving in total measures about 2 feet high, it is about 3 and 1/2 inches from the front to the back high and it is about 8 inches wide. The carving has a break and repair to the Christ child’s arms that hold the ball globe, an age split in the wood with some scuffs and wear (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item).
